Pulled out the rudder and steering pushrods as well as the rudder servo and control horn on the rudder. I removed the tail wheel and split the rear fuse so I could get the whole tail wheel steering assembly out. Actually made a couple of nice wheel landings without nosing over. I flew it with landing gear on so it was a bit on the heavy side. Like I said, not very relaxing but no bad habits. Once I got it up to altitude I trimmed it and put some time in on it. I can't see a need for 3s at all in this one. They fit perfectly and had plenty of power. I took off from the short winter grass and it took a few attempts to launch because of nose-overs and tumbles. Not the most relaxing model I have but it looks great in the air. CG is easier with the P-51 than either Hurricane or Corsair. On my P-51 I still use the stock 12amp esc but only 2 prop blades instead of the 4 while using any 3s battery from 730 to 1000. Lots and lots of expo, like 70 and keep the throw rates to the manual's specs and it will fly so much better. I did change the 12amp esc to 18amp ones I had laying around for both Hurricane and Corsair and use 3s 1000 batteries for both.

Am I to understand that if you put in a 3s 1000 with the stock motor, 12a ESC and prop, it won't cook anything? And did you change out the batt connector or stick with the JST? I'm thinking I might be better off with a 2s 1500.

Some of you guys say you are using 3s 1000s in your planes and it fixes the CG. So now my other noob question has to do with fixing my CG. Once I finally forced the prop assembly off and replaced that nut, things went together better. I had a bad front nut on mine, the one ahead of the propeller, which was jamming up the assembly. Well, I figured out my problem with the above.
